Moulham Obid’s 2019 Collection: A Tribute to Gaia

Moulham Obid’s 2019 collection is a poetic homage to Gaia, the ancient personification of Earth. Drawing inspiration from the shapes, textures, and colors found in nature, Obid translates the organic into the extraordinary through innovative design and masterful tailoring.

Elaborate cuts give rise to striking silhouettes, lending each piece—be it a dress, top, or coat—a distinctive and powerful identity. At the heart of the collection is a show-stopping coat composed of countless pink tulle strips, creating a fluid, almost ethereal movement with every step.

A black, asymmetrical dress evokes the classic lines of a tunic, elevated by a lilac tulle stole that softens and redefines its form. A sleeveless mint-green dress captivates with its clean lines, brought to life by the clever draping of tulle ribbons that outline its structure.

One standout piece, a pink silk top, features precisely arranged pleats reminiscent of architectural symmetry—marrying softness with strength. A striped mini dress with an oversized cut channels the spirit of the 1950s, its silhouette adjustable thanks to an integrated bustier.

To top it all off, a dramatic black flounce dress comes to life with a voluminous 25 meters of taffeta, turning every movement into a visual spectacle.

A deeply personal highlight: on the back of a wide-cut cotton coat, Obid himself has painted a portrait of Gaia, underscoring the collection’s heartfelt dedication to the Earth and its spirit.
